Phoenix Rising

I'm starting this blog in the hopes that it will get me writing again. I've been away from my passion of being a Wordsworth for far too long and it's time to get back to it.
That being said, my intention for subject matter will center around topics and ideas that will end up in my book. So here goes...
As we grow, there are certain lessons we learn in order to honor the path we chose before we came here. Each one of us embedded particular clues deep into our psyche to help guide us along our path. Each one of us chose a theme for this life and a struggle to help us grow. To help us truly understand what it is to be human; an individual capable of independent thought and action.
Along our path, people join us for a while, but their path eventually leads them in another direction, and we are left to continue on. The point here is to continue on. To allow ourselves permission to follow a path that honors those clues we embedded. And sometimes we think someone else's path is also our own. Don't be fooled, no one's paths are exactly the same. What would be the point of that? For to honor another's struggles is to deny your own, which is the real tragedy.
Someone once told me to always be me, no matter who's watching. Be true to that brightness, that fire, but always respect it. Know its limits and forgive them.
But then something happens and you lose that fire. You search and search, to no avail. Desperate and scared, you cling to the first person that reaches out and promises the world. For a while, you believe it. Even make room to hold space for them, always. Time goes on and one day that person who promised to always be there, to always be strong, isn't there. You're devastated. You can't think, all you feel is loss and pain. The fire that once burned with brilliance, is now a smoldering pile of ashes. You're lost again, don't know where to turn. What have you done? Spent so much time focusing on struggles that weren't yours and denied your own and now, here they are, staring you down. You search again for the light, not realizing it's inside that pile of ashes you left behind. Panicked, you remember you didn't honor your fire's limits. Desperately, you race back hoping, praying that there's a tiny spark, just one is all you need to help light your way. Digging, your hands feel the warmth left by the fire. The ashes feel light, yet gritting and rough. Suddenly, deep within the pile, you feel it, the penetrating warmth of an ember. Pushing the soil away, your eyes focus on the faint glow of amber gold light. Instinctually you look around for some dry fuel and grab a handful. Placing it carefully around the ember, you blow gently, mindful of the virtue of patience. When you see the smoke rising, you know it's time. Time to breathe deeply and take in what you've survived. Realizing you just conquered your struggles, you breathe in life with new awareness, new strength, new perspectives. And breathe out all the old despairing ways, stoking the ember to a flame. You watch it dance, entranced by its brilliance as it ebbs and flows in the darkness. Soon, that flame becomes a fire, burning strong and bright, clearing the path before you. The Phoenix Rising, and so shall you. Revived, cleansed, anew.
Your path is now more clear and focused than ever before. Your way, your purpose become focused and true. For your path is what you've always been on. It just only felt like you were lost so you could prepare for the work you came here to do. To teach life you must know it's depths. To teach how to live, you must first learn how to die, and to rise from the ashes to bring back all the wisdom of knowledge. True knowledge. And to bring that knowledge to the world through Love. One. Struggle. At. A. Time.
